What's happening today...

It's Friday and I like it

Start off the day with the warm-up

Talk to me, how are things going in class, in school. You good? If not, is there something we can do to get things better or on track?

What Up? (besides the sky, planets, sun, etc)

My life is tremendously wacky right now because both of my children play competitive soccer. My spouse is an attorney and does not get off work in time to take them to practice a majority of the week so the responsibility falls on me.My oldest son plays on a team from Clovis and he plays on two additional teams in Merced which means I have to drive to Merced every Wednesday and I don’t get home until after 10pm which makes for a crazy long day.

The weekend is equally bonkers because as I mentioned above, both boys play competitive soccer for the NorCal League which means the games can be as far north as Napa so even if we are fortunate enough to have one child that has a game in town, there is a very good chance that the other will be out of town.

My oldest also plays in a league called X2 with is through Cal North (not to be confused with NorCal) on a team called Albion Merced where every single game they play is out of town.

Lastly, he plays for a semi-pro team called Azteca out of Merced. This is an adult league so it is kind of wild seeing my 16 year old baby playing with 25 year old dudes.

There is never a weekend where I am not driving out of town at least once and often it is twice so life is bonkers for me right now.

As for class, I am pretty happy with the quality of students in the class, I just need to figure out how to get the best out of each of you.

Why is it important?

A game developer may need to pitch a game to a publisher to get the green light to produce the game.

How do you show that you understand? What is the assignment?

Today you will work on a google slides to create a presentation on pitching/presenting your game. You will present on Wednesday

You will need to:

1. Introduce yourself

2. ​Explain overall what you were required to do, including software used

3. Present the artwork for your game

4. Talk about the process… ​step by step, what did you do?

5. Reflect on successes and challenges you had making your world

6. Demonstrate your game

7. Conclude the presentation in a thoughtful manner.

SCORING

4 Points - Each level is worth 1 points (Each level lasting at least 3 min and has an ending)

1 Point - Game Cover

1 Point - Warp

1 Point - Use af flags

1 Point - Use of layers and events

1 Point - Modifying NPCs

1 Point - Modifying sounds

5 points - Mapping of your levels and world - Each level and world must be storyboarded/planned out and drawn on paper. You are to plan out your level, not just go with the flow. This is NOT how a professional game dev works.
