When animals attack!

We have all seen those viral videos of the random person messing with some wild animal and the animal ends up thrashing the person.

Now it is time for you to use your imagination and creativity to tell me a story about “When Animals Attack” BUT here is the caveat, the animal you select must reasonably have a chance to beat you and you must have a reasonable chance to beat them in at attack. No offense but it doesn’t matter what MMA gym you go to, none of you are beating a silverback gorilla and a red eared slider turtle isn’t going to beat you. In your story, you need to tell me why the beast is a formidable adversary. You do this by looking up info on the animal.

I never realized the rage and I certainly never expected the violence. My goal is to live in peace but on this trip, there would be none. It all started with my stepdad, he is all about going on cruises. Mexico Cruise, Bahamas Cruise, Alaska Cruise, Disney Cruise… we did them all and this man had to go on the fringes of the cruise industry! Antactica. What a totally unreasonable place to take a vacation, no cool ports, one excursion and the rest is just ice.

The cruise was cold but as always, the food was decent and their weren’t too many weirdos in the hot tub so it was actually an alright time. I had the opportunity to catch up on some reading for pleasure so the cruise was going better than I expected. We finally got to the one port with the one excusrion, seeing the Emperor Pengins!

Emperor penguins can grow up to 4’3″ tall and weigh up to 100 lbs, I was interested in checking them out. We got off the boat and took a quick shuttle to the penguin area, as well drove in, you could see them and they were huge! It waws shocking to see them in real life, they were kind of like monsters.

As people left the shuttle, I could see this was going to be weird. Everyone had their phones out and nobody seemed to want to give these penguins any space. The tour guy didn’t really give much direction so people people people were about to fool around and find out.

I had been making small talk with a retired teacher from Omaha during one of the dinners and I saw her approaching the biggest penguin of the group with her camera light on as she brought it uncomfortably close to the beast’s beak.

With suprising quickness, the penguin slapped the phone out of her hand. Startled and scared, she jumped back and the bird sat on the phone like it was an egg.

I asked her if she was okay and she said yes but she just got the phone and did not have insurance so she needed to get it back and she looked at me with eyes that say, “go get it for me!”.

I knew it was a bad idea but I kind of liked the idea of being the hero for once so I thought I could sneek up behind the bird and grab it.

I was wrong!

As I reached between the birds legs, a felt a dense and rigid bone smack me upside my head three times.

Wack Wack Wack!

I don’t know why but I always thought they would have soft wings but in reality, they are hand and built for powerful swinning through freezing water.

As I stood there in shock, the bird turned around and chest bumped me on to the icy ground. The penguin then tried to pull off a finishing move, the beak jab! The bird reared back it’s head to strike and dropped its beak like a hammer. I knew it was on so I rolled over to my side and dodged the beak then kicked the penguin in the chest with everything I had. The bird absorbed the blow suprisingly easily because 30 percent of their body weight is blubber to help keep them warm in the freezing temperatures.

Dropped blows with my limbs wasn’t goiong to work but I remembered that they have a running speed of about 2 – 3 mph so speed was my best advantage. I spun around the penguin and gave it a taste of its own medicine, I chest bumped the penguin like I was a baseball coach chest bumping an umpire after a bad call in game 7 of the world series. The penguin fell so I snatched the phone and ran.

As I am running, I realize that everyone on the excursion had not only seen it all go down, they were recording the entire battle.

For the rest of the cruise, they all called me Dethrone because I had taken down an emperor.

Piskel – Principal of Animation: Staging. Staging is the presentation of any idea so that it is completely and unmistakely clear.

Why is it important?

Learning how to actually incorporate the principals of animation will improve the look and overall quality of your projects.

How will you show you understand? What is the assignment?

You are to create a scene in Piskel that focuses on staging. THIS DOES NOT NEED TO BE ANIMATED BUT IF YOU FINISH EARLY, ADD ANIMATION!

Create a single frame and add enough art so that the viewer knows exactly what the scene is about.
