Let’s talk Easter Eggs!
An Easter egg in a video game is a hidden, intentional inside joke, secret message, or extra feature that players can find by performing specific actions
The first famous Easter egg was hidden in the 1979 Atari game Adventure by programmer Warren Robinett.
Atari did not put developer names in game credits back then, so Robinett hid a secret room with the message “Created by Warren Robinett”
I need to discuss this with you because we are about to create real software that actual students are going to use in school. We cannot have any inappropriate or even rated PG easter eggs in the level you are going to produce. This is going to be used by children to learn so we need to be professional about this project while still having fun. This is your opportunity to create something that you can talk about in college and scholarship applications. It is also something real that you can add to your resume.
Please take this serious because it is and I wouldn’t trust you with this if I didn’t believe in you.
We will be drawing for our word levels today and talking about the next two days.
Start your day with a warm-up
NO WARM UP! YOUR GAME IS DUE TODAY
What are we working on today?
Creating your world
Why is it important?
Creating your world is really packaging your game.
What is the assignment? How will I show I understand?
Each person in class will get up and share what they are working on for their game. What is going well? What is not going so great? Is there anything you need help on? Is there anything unexpected that has come up?
Talk about it.
You have created the first level of your game and you didn’t even know it. You are to create a new world with four levels.
Land Level
Water Level
Air Level
Dungeon Level
Get a sheet of graph paper and storyboard one of your levels just like you read in the article on the 11th.
Once you have created the world with your four levels, I am going to ask you to use the best ideas you came up with in your world and create the one minute masterpiece based on a vocabulary word.
